It’s Testimony Time!

By Judy Ann Pink

My intention in this ongoing blog will be to lift up the name of Jesus, proclaim His word, and hopefully be a blessing to someone who reads it.

What is on my mind, and in my heart today to share with the saints of God and, for that matter, anyone? There are so many opinions about God…who He is, what He does and what we can believe about His will.

How do we, in the year 2013, even know there is a God? Well, I can tell you without reservation, that He is real. He is not a figment of my “religious” imagination. If anyone will become desperate enough to want to know Him, He will not disappoint.

I will never forget the day I was born again in a Baptist church in December of 1973. The preacher preached and I responded to the invitation to be saved by going forward to the altar. I did not know at the time what that was all about, but I was aware that God was calling and I was responding. I was experiencing the most mighty miracle of being transformed in an instant.

My sins were washed away as I chose to give my life to Jesus Christ. I physically felt the weight lifted off me and I felt lighter. As all this was happening, this encounter with a living God, the people in the church told me to sit down and fill out a form. LOL. That was their method. No problem. I did so, as I was trembling and quietly crying. Later that day, after witnessing to my neighbor about what had happened, I knelt down beside my bed and prayed that a headache that I had would go away. I knew nothing of healing. When I prayed, it left instantly.

I have had so many experiences with the Lord since then. He is not a distant God that requires some religious system for us to communicate with Him. It’s not a belief system. It’s a personal relationship. If you are born of the Spirit, you are alive unto God. You will know Him, you’ll have a desire for the things of God and His word will be alive to you. I remember being shocked at how suddenly I could read the bible and understand it. If you aren’t experiencing these things, seek Him…just pray and surrender your heart to Him. It’s not something to be afraid of. He’s your Father and He has always loved you. I can tell you that you will never regret it. In fact, you will realize that you have just come alive and your life will never be the same.

I went back to church that night and was baptized in water. I will never forget that glorious day. That was the start of my journey with my Lord Jesus.

What about you? I would love to hear your story of salvation, the greatest miracle of all.

C’’s testimony time!

  1. Judy Ann..

Your blog this morning reminded me to consider the day of my salvation. Just taking the time to think about that glorious day back in 1973 when God lifted me, brought great encouragement.

You see, I was a young man with no spiritual understanding and I was trifling with the things of God without knowing it. But He was kind and gracious and so very loving towards me.

Then on that day back in September of 1973, I knelt down in the privacy of my own bedroom, and acknowledged to God that I was a sinner and that I had been living my life for me and I asked Him to forgive me and to do whatever He does to me. I had no idea if He was listening. Wasn’t even sure He existed, but I was hoping He did and that He was listening and that He would answer and that somehow I might know that He heard me and answered me.

So even though I was expecting nothing, had never sat through a church service, had never heard of or seen an altar call… In fact, in many ways I was a blank sheet. The guy who had been witnessing to me, was not a believer. He was raised in a Christian home. He told me he didn’t believe any of it, but I was also being witnessed to by a girl who believed in the Lord with all her heart. Well, my friend told me to ignore her and not to believe him either. He told me if I wanted to know the truth about God, all I had to do was go straight to Him, confess my sins, ask for forgiveness, invite Him into my life and I would find out. He was of course, not expecting me to encounter the living God!

His closing comment to me on that fateful night as he left my house was to instruct me with these four words… “Above all, be sincere”.

I was sincere and God met me in a totally unexpected way. It felt like someone dumped a 45 gallon drum of water on me from above. I literally felt lighter like you did Judy. I thought I might actually float up through the roof of my house. I was crying and exceedingly joyful. I had no idea what happened. All I knew for sure was that GOD showed up and He LOVED me and somehow everything was brand new!

You mention that you were baptized. Well at that time, the unchurched teenage boy that I was, had never heard of water baptism, yet I ran out to the back of the house to jump in the swimming pool. I somehow knew that I had to get in water! Problem was, we didn’t have a pool. Never had. So I started to fill the bathtub. Was taking too long. So I filled the bathroom sink and started putting my head under water and dousing myself. Had no idea why I was doing that. Just knew I needed to. Didn’t know why. I literally baptized myself without the proper liturgy or understanding. A few months later, I got baptized at a church right and proper, but the first time was something I will never forget!

Thanks so much for sharing your story and helping me remember mine. You are an inspiration and when you speak, I hear God.

I love you my precious Judy Ann,

  2. My Michael,
Your testimony always gives me such joy! Thank you for sharing it here. Knowing you, it happened just as you say. : ) How can we explain the supernatural God that we love? Jesus said, “God is love.” He also said, “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” And, He said, “If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father”.
How can we do anything but love Him?
