It was the first military conflict authorized by Congress that the United States fought on foreign land and seas.”

“The continuing demand for tribute ultimately led to the formation of the United States Department of the Navy, founded in 1798 to prevent further attacks upon American shipping and to end the extremely large demands for tribute from the Barbary States.
In March 1785, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams went to London to negotiate with Tripoli’s envoy, Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman (or Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja). When they enquired “concerning the ground of the pretensions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury”, the ambassador replied:
It was written in their Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every mussulman who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise.”

The American ships were attacked and savaged without provocation simply because they were not muslim. Then, as now, muslim leaders felt it their duty to plunder, kill and enslave peaceful, non muslim peoples simply because they exist. The piracy of that day is eerily similar to the Somali pirates we hear about today, where merchant ships are attacked by well armed bandits in the name of Islam.

The prayer ministry is going well. I have had reports from those who attended the conference in Indiana that they are passing around the article that you did…and the declarations I put together from that article…and they are seeing results!!! I have started a “teaching group” on facebook (Pray4Keeps) as well as a blog with the same name (pray4keeps.com) to instruct people on prayer. I believe more people would pray if the mysteries of prayer were removed…and their faith was developed in the word of God. Thanks for asking…

That’s great about the prayer ministry! I love the fact that the Lord trusts us with something as powerful as intercession. You are so right…it is not something to be taken lightly or done through the mind(or the flesh) but rather the Spirit. I have experienced some amazing things with the Holy Spirit in prayer. Things that made me stand back and stand amazed! May the Lord visit you and your group with His Presence in a mighty way!
